Counseling News

Seniors applying to college:

  1. The January deadlines for college application are quickly approaching! As a reminder, students must have completed the following at least 10 school days (not including weekends or school holidays) prior to the college deadline:
  • Invite their counselor to their Common App account or their college application portal, if applicable - OR - submit a transcript request through https://fultonga.scriborder.com (for schools that do not allow a counselor "invitation" - ex. Georgia Gwinnett College).
  • Upload their completed Senior Brag Sheet in the Class of 2025 Canvas page under the Assignments tab if applying to a college that requires a counselor recommendation letter. Reminder: no public colleges in Georgia require a counselor letter of recommendation!
  • Counselors will not process or submit transcript or recommendation requests during any school holidays, so please plan ahead accordingly! See below for common upcoming deadlines:
    • January 1st - 6th -  should have already invited counselor or submit transcript by December 6th
    • January 15th - must invite counselor or submit transcript request by December 17th
    • February 1st - must invite counselor or submit transcript request by January 17th 
  1. ***All Seniors must double-check that all their college listed in Common App have a selected deadline!*** Deadlines must be selected in  Common App at least 10 school days in advance to ensure we have enough time to process your students' documents. If colleges are listed in Common App without a deadline selected, counselors will assume that the student is only considering whether to apply to that college and will not take action on sending documents.

Schedule Changes for Spring Semester:

Students who are currently failing or earning low C’s in a current Honors or AP class may wish to consider requesting to change to a lower level class for Spring semester.  Schedule change forms are available for students to pick up in the Counseling Office. 

Dual Enrollment Students:

All students currently participating in Dual Enrollment are expected to read the communication posted on your Teams accounts and follow the directions! For Spring 2025, Gwinnett Tech registration opened in late September, and GA State University registration opened on November 4th, so students do not want to miss out on any steps required to register. As a reminder, Dual Enrollment students are expected to upload a screenshot of their Spring 2025 detail schedule in Teams once they get registered - due by December 13th. Students who do not follow this process will have face-to-face classes added to their Spring schedules at Chattahoochee, and they will only be changed when their counselor receives proof of registration in Dual Enrollment classes.
