Graduation Requirements
- English - 4 credits
- Mathematics - 4 credits
- Science - 4 credits
- Social Studies - 3 credits
- CTAE/Fine Art/World Language** - 3 credits
- Health (0.5) & Personal Fitness*** (0.5) - 1 credit
- Additional Electives - 4 credits
23 TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED
**World Language is not a graduation requirement, but 2 or 3 years of the SAME world language may be required for college admission.
***Electronic Personal Fitness Waiver does not give credit, only ensures the Personal Fitness requirement has been satisfied. The Counseling Office does not process or approve PF waivers. Until it is listed on your transcript as waived, do not considered yourself cleared of the requirement. Students still must earn 23 total credits, so the 0.5 credit that would have been earned with PF just turns into Elective credit to be earned.
Graduating with Honors
- Cumulative Numeric Averages for Honor Graduates are finalized at the END of the 1st semester.
- Honor Cords are purchased in May in the front office. The Counseling Office does not handle honor cords.
- Numeric Averages do NOT round up. Example - 8799999 will not earn you a Cum Laude designation at graduation or an honor card.
SUMMA CUM LAUDE - 96.0+
MAGNA CUM LAUDE - 92.0+
CUM LAUDE - 88.0+

Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment General Info
- Dual Enrollment is a State of Georgia initiative that allows high school students to take college courses through an approved college or university for high school credit.
- Participants must meet admission requirements for the institution they wish to enroll.
- Students can take classes online at home or at the local college.
- Offered during Summer, Fall and Spring terms.
- Students cannot take more than 15 credit hours each term. Most students take 1-2 classes per semester. Most take their courses online to have more flexibility with high school scheduling.
- All communication happens between the student and the college, not the parent.
- Parking passes are awarded at the discretion of administration, not the counseling office -and just because you have dual enrollment courses does not guarantee parking on campus.
- Students must READ EVERYTHING carefully or they will miss critical information.
For detailed information please visit our CHS Dual Enrollment weebly.
FVS & GAVS (Virtual Schools)
To register for an online class, students must complete the current Contract for Online Classes, have it signed by the parent/guardian, and submit it to the Counseling Office by the designated deadline.
- A courses = Semester 1 (Fall), ½ credit
- B courses = Semester 2 (Spring), ½ credit
- AB courses = Yearlong Course (Fall + Spring combined in one semester), 1 credit
Fulton Virtual School (FVS)
Online courses have specific beginning and ending dates aligned with the school calendar and curriculum. Courses have specific syllabus and students must log-in to work every day. Courses are self-paced. Virtual teachers monitor and evaluate work progress and provide support upon student request.
- Cost: During the Fall and Spring terms, there is no cost for online courses taken during a student's regular school day. Tuition is charged only if a course is taken in addition to a student's normal course load or if the course is attempted for first-time credit during the summer term.*
- ½ credit = $225 ($180 with free/reduced meal status) per course
- 1 credit = $450 ($360 with free/reduced meal status) per course
*If a student has previously failed a course and is retaking the course to receive credit, there is no charge during the Summer term.
For more detailed information, visit FVS website.
Georgia Virtual School (GAVS)

Courses have weekly deadlines. Virtual teachers monitor and evaluate work progress and provide support upon student request.
- Cost: Public local schools will pay tuition and fees for students enrolled in a GAVS course that is part of the student's regular school day.
- ½ credit = $250 per A or B course
- 1 credit = $500 per AB course

Summer School
High School Summer Learning is an opportunity for high school students to accelerate or recover credits during the time between school years. The summer session is a condensed version of content provided during the school year, and students must have their course requests validated by their counselor before being enrolled.
Fulton County Schools offers three summer learning opportunities for high school students who need to retake a previously failed course:
- Face-to-Face Summer School
- Fulton Virtual Learning Program
- Fulton County Credit Recovery
Students may also accelerate their learning during the summer by taking a course for the first time through the Fulton Virtual. Tuition is required to take a course for the first time during the summer.
As you consider your options, please keep in mind that one course is the equivalent of a semester-long class for a 0.5 credit. Students are limited to taking:
- 2 courses in a Face to Face setting
- 2 courses in Fulton Virtual
- 1 High School Summer Credit Recovery course at a time. Once a ½ credit is earned, a student may take another course through High School Summer Credit Recovery.
Depending on student need, a student may be simultaneously enrolled in more than one summer learning option.
For more detailed information, visit Summer Learning.
